Haters Gonna Hate

I wrote this poem. My motivation? My muthasuckin’ haters! Ok I don’t really think I have any haters in real life, but I got frustrated at work today because my work style is coming in conflict with other work styles in the office. I had to take a short break, gather myself, and try again. This poem describes what happened . . .

“This Realization”

Little by little
They tear away at me
Biting and clawing
They care not for me
And down I go
To a place I know
I can’t stay long

So I heal myself
Speak life, appeal to myself
Self! Breathe and thrive!
Survive this

I come to myself
Shocked at my condition
Surprised by their attrition
Disappointed in my susceptibility
Then it comes to me
This realization

They affect me so
And I am weak so . . .
But I am so
Much stronger than them

I'm Mariah. Jesus is my homie. I live in (and was raised in) the south. I am, as often as possible, actively grateful for my family because I understand their life giving power. Really dislike melodramatics. Really love reading and writing so much so that I aspire to be an author. What else?
